After some late night calculations, the winner of the blog flipping contest is….
Frugal Zeitgeist!
It’s actually quite amazing because Forest didn’t even “flip” his blog. He still owns it. But, after looking over the contest rules, and the statistics… I didn’t say that the blog had to be sold. He did miss out on the bonus points for the listing and the sale of his blog, but he had enough points from RSS subscribers and traffic to walk away with this one.
So congrats Forest. I’ll be getting in touch with you soon, and we’ll find a way to get you your prizes!
Second and third place go to Jay and Missy. Congrats everyone, and thanks for taking part!

Wow…. I was just moaning the other day about not winning any online contests.
It was an excellent contest and everyone helped each other out immensly…. I think we started a good little community and possibly will be able to continue on some fantastic group projects.
As for prized I am glad I don’t have to design two 125×125’s for myself as am damn busy right at this second :).
….. just out of interest what do I get in my $300 software package?
Well done everyone, the blogs were amazing. What were the final selling prices for you guys that sold?

The software included in the package is…
-Rss Xploiter - Submits your RSS feed to known spammer RSS directories in hopes that they scrape your content, with your link attached. Good software, great way to build links.
-Instant Article Wizard - Produces unique content for niche blogs on the fly.
-Cover Action Pro - Create ebook covers with easy to follow templates in Photoshop.
Hope you enjoy them!
Still trying to contact the guy that donated the hosting… that’s the only loose end I don’t have filled, but hopefully we’ll get that fixed shortly.

Hmmm. I didn’t think Frugal Zeitgest was in the running, as he didn’t flip it, or the others who disappeared.
But if you say, he was qualified. Then i guess he was.

Bryan Clark reply on August 7th, 2008:
I went back and looked over my wording to be sure of everything before I announced the winner. It occurred to me that I never said the site had to be sold, because I offered “bonus” points for a successful sale, and listing the auction. Which would imply that it didn’t need to be sold.
Probably an oversight on my part, but Forest definitely built a great blog, and he deserves it.
Oh, and congrats on the radio station appearance Forest!

Man, I hate being second!
Congrats Forest! Well done and you deserve it. Actually, I made a joke in a comment early in the contest about the point structure and being able to win without selling if the stats were good enough, didn’t I?
That’s awesome. You ended up with the best blog, best stats, I assume the most revenue, AND you get to keep it and all the prizes!
Damn! That’s a good Random Forest post!
Congrats again dude!
And thanks again for the contest, and to everyone who commented/stunbled/dugg me during the building process.
Cheers!
Jay

(korprit)
mind sharing the traffic stats? i would be very interested to see how much traffic people were able to muster after just a month (organic especially)
im still sitting around 10 hits a day, less than half orgranic lol
but im about to start revising my backlinking strategy based on some new found knowledge
regardless, how many daily/weekly hits were the contestants getting?

Missy reply on August 7th, 2008:
Quick tip for you (and free):
Want more traffic to your blog? Write more. Whatever frequency your currently posting at, double it or triple it. I didn’t say it was easy, but it does work.
One post a day isn’t going to cut it, and one a week surely wont do it.
Try it.

Creating passive income online reply on August 8th, 2008:
granted im new to this whole process, but frequency of posts does not appear to help with my end goal, SERP rankings. i have given up on the idea of regular readers as that was never my goal. I’m looking more to learn how to snipe keywords and/or get regular organic traffic.
building adsense or affiliate pages seems more likely to produce a regular semi passive income, and the biggest key to ANY online money making endeavor is building traffic.
social traffic is unreliable (short lived) and is far less likely to click ads. organic traffic (targetted at the non IM or MMO crowd) seems to earn the most.
so i am trying to focus more on getting backlinks (quality preferred over quantity) so i can take that new found knowledge/skill and apply it elsewhere.
but thanks for the tip

Bryan Clark reply on August 7th, 2008:
I won’t be posting the stats Korprit. I made a promise that I’d be the only one checking, and I’d be throwing that out the window if I posted the statistics.
Also, it’d take a lot of time that I really don’t have. Things have been hectic lately, and I may have bit off more than I can chew. I need to get caught up!
Sorry pal!

Cheers everyone…. still can’t believe I won, never meant to…
On another note.. Does anyone live or know anyone in Montreal?
I’m going to be on CBC Montreal today between 1-2pm talking about cheap and free things to do in Montreal.
The shows producer found Frugal Zeitgeist on the net and contacted me… pretty cool, but I am nervous!!

Nice man! Always nice seeing a blogger get some media attention. It just goes to show that you never know who is looking for the content you create, and the opportunities are limitless!
Best of luck on the show, and look - don’t be nervous. You’re the man, you created the site, you know your stuff, and if you walk into that room like you’ve been doing it for 20 years, you’ll be just fine!

Great job buddy! I love the site, I think it’s awesome and you deserve the prizes. I wish I could have got in on this, but….I’m not much of a flipper so…I don’t know how well I would have fared.
Good job to everyone who got involved.
