Today I want to talk a little bit about how to find cheap blogs to buy. These blogs are absolute gold, and they generally net you quite a high return on investment when it comes to selling them. Hope you enjoy the video, and let me know what you think!

Bryan this is an awesome video.
I have thought about buying small sites before but this has quadrupled my interest and I will def be looking to try and obtain a $20 blog in the near future.

Thank you for sharing! There needs to be more bloggers like you in the blog world!
Do you or will you have a post on selling said sites. I’ll bet yes and or yes.
There are tons of places to find abandoned blogs too. I’m sure readers can already recall where they have run into them.
Thanks again.

I’ll have a post coming in the future about selling sites. There is a lot more to learn before I get to that.

Bryan,
Looking forward to part two. You spent a lot on how you buy a blog, but I’d love to learn more on how you sell it.

Bryan Clark reply on June 4th, 2008:
We’ll get there Doug.
Like I said, there are a lot of steps between prospecting, and selling.

Great video. Thanks for the info I will be putting it to use right away.
Until just a month ago I never knew that you could sell a blog either. I think that there are a lot of people out there who will be very happy to sell a blog or a website.
Consider yourself stumbled and dugg!

Yeah, you’d be surprised how many people didn’t know that blogs and websites were legitimate assets.

Yes. I too would like to hear how and where you sell them. This is an important point. Good video except for this missing detail.

Bryan Clark reply on June 4th, 2008:
It’s good to see your smiling face hanging around Kuanyin.
Like I said, we’ll get to it. I couldn’t fit all of this into one video if I tried. So, it definitely wasn’t a “missing detail”, just the beginning of a series.

@ Bryan: This was one pretty cool video. I’ve got to give it to you… you speak very well and present a very professional, confident attitude. But we wouldn’t expect anything less right? The ONLY problem that I see with it… is you’ll have me playing around with e-mails all day long.
@ Kuanyin: I think the purpose in an informational video like this is to show you a SMALL snippet of what Bryan’s whole blog has to offer. I don’t know if any body is nutty enough to put the whole kit-n-kabootle together on one video.
I think selling blogs/ websites is a lot like real estate investing. You don’t make you money when you sell… you make your money when you buy. If you buy right, it never matters what the market looks like… you’ll come out ahead when you DO sell… unless you live in Vegas of course!

Bryan Clark reply on June 4th, 2008:
PB is right on the money as usual.
The money is made when you buy, not on the sale.

Very interesting information..thank you for sharing. I too would like find out where you sell these blogs once you attain them.

June 4th, 2008 at 12:23 am
And another question..if you buy the blog..how does it become yours? How do you transfer ownership?
[Reply]
Bryan Clark reply on June 4th, 2008:
Stick around buddy. I’ll get to all of this. We’ve only just begun!
I’ll be sure to shoot a video that documents transferring a site though. Cool?

Absolutely awesome video. I was going to say that I hope you follow up with a video on how you brought one (in the $20-$50 price range) and then sold it for X times its purchase price… but I see everyone else has requested the same, so I won’t ask
I think a lot of people would be interested in this business model, since it’s ultra low-risk. I especially liked the thought of buying 100 posts for $25. I see people offering their writing services for $5 or $10 an article, so $25 for 100 of them is an absolute STEAL!
[Reply]
Bryan Clark reply on June 4th, 2008:
I agree! 100 articles for $25 is fantastic. So technically, as I said in the video… I had made money before I even considered selling it. I had a valuable asset - content!

Hi Bryan,
Excellent video, nice work! I am going to try this as I would like to buy some old blogs to help with my network of website in a specific niche!
Thanks for the tips.
I dugg and stumbled you also!

I got to finish the video today, good stuff.
Once i sell a few of my blogs, i’ll look into the Blog Flipping Business. As it is def interesting and as a blogger, it would seem that buying and selling blogs would be a good extension within the field.
I know RSS subscribers, traffic, income, and content are selling points for a blog, but what about the metrics alone, such as:
Google Rank
Alexa
Backlinks
How much significance do you place on (these metrics alone), when looking at a blog?

Hey Bryan,
EXCELLENT VIDEO!!! I got your comment on my site and had to come and see your latest. I am blocked from looking at vidoes at work and so have been waiting all day to see this, I think thats the first time I have heard your voice.
You make it sound so simple….which it is!!! I just watched this twice with Britt and she said, and I quote “damn he has a sexy voice!” I have been snapping up expired domains for a while but you have opened my eyes to yet another way to make money online. I WILL follow your tips and I will let you know the results for sure.
Actually, I keep meaning to email you about a little project I have. Perhaps I will go away and do that now. Seriously though, excellent post yet again.
Thanks.
AP

LOL - Those are the perils of doing a video without a script, saying the same words again and again. However, when I use scripts, I don’t ever come across as actually caring about the topic. I sound like I’m just reading a book!

It’s not rocket science and I don’t know why more people are not getting involved in this. Like you say, there is plenty room for everyone. Some crazy statistics in that video too…..whats your source??
Can I assume you do this full time now??
Email sent!
[Reply]
Bryan Clark reply on June 5th, 2008:
Yep, it’s a full-time job for me now. Well, it’s a part-time, full-time job. I don’t ever put in full-time hours, but it’s how I make my cash, so yeah!
As far as the source goes, I’m not sure where I read that. However, there are differing opinions on the stats. For example, when digging, and trying to find where I read it… I found other sites that mention that there are over 100k blogs created daily. Either way, it’s a lot of blogs, and lot’s of them are stagnant.

Hi Brian,
Just a quick question. How do you handle the negotiation? Do you say a price or wait for them to tell you first?
[Reply]
Bryan Clark reply on June 5th, 2008:
You NEVER want to give them the chance to give you a price first. This could kill all negotiations from the beginning. I can’t give you a “magic bullet” answer here… it all depends on the site, and who you are negotiating with. No two negotiations are ever the same.

I would SO love a good blogger beat down article… the art of negotiation the Sun Tzu way!

Did you achieve the same results with own hosted blogs as with blogger based blogs?
[Reply]
Bryan Clark reply on June 6th, 2008:
I would recommend staying away from free blogs. They aren’t worth much, and technically you aren’t allowed to sell them (but it still happens). You’ll get a fraction of the true value when using a free blog.
[Reply]
Javier reply on June 6th, 2008:
And what about those blogs based on blogspot but with its own domain?
They allow to change DNS and use your own domain, so perhaps yo may not notice that they’re hosted on Blogger.
BTW, how did you achieve this high Alexa rank in such a short time?
And here’s a suggestion: you could add the option to get an email notification when someone answers your comment in a thread.
[Reply]
Bryan Clark reply on June 6th, 2008:
You mean “self hosted” Blogger blogs. Those are fine. It’s just like having a self hosted Wordpress blog, like most of us have, only with Blogger. However, I personally don’t care for Blogger. It doesn’t have the features, themes, usability, or customization options that Wordpress has.
Thanks for the comment about the Alexa rank, however, it’s still climbing! It takes a few months for your Alexa to balance out due to you starting in the 15 millions somewhere. So, my weekly average is right at 160k, and 15 million is where I started… it takes a while. They use an AVERAGE so the 15 million will still come in to play for around 3 months. As far as it improving at this rate, it’s largely based on promotion and commenting on other blogs. Fortunately, I started with a pretty large “fanbase”, and they’ll follow me just about anywhere.
As far as the comments, there already is that option. Check out the banner where it says subscribe to comments. It’s an Rss feed for comments only.

Excellent video and blog. I’ve just started looking into site flipping some of my old blogs that I no longer have time to post on. I’m one of those guys that always has way to many projects on the go and have to FOCUS!
I’m definitely a new recruit to this blog.
I reckon site flipping will kill 2 birds with one stone, i.e.clear the decks of excess baggage, add an income stream to my IM business and be another string to my bow ( 3 (!) birds with one stone and I have a bow too now, talk about mixing metaphors).

Great post Bryan. A good alternative to “refreshing Digital Point” every 30 seconds, hoping to catch the next deal.
Too bad there wasn’t an advanced search feature on BlogCatalog to find blogs that were older. For example choosing “blogs added in 2006″ or something of that nature. It would save time and be more likely to find dead ones with lots of content quicker. Every time I clicked one I thought was interesting, it was “recently added”.
Do you have any other tips in finding older ones on that particular site that I may have missed?
Jay

Bryan Clark reply on June 30th, 2008:
Jay, I’ll do an article on it eventually. I don’t have any tips for that site per se, but I do have some great sources to find older domains and blogs.

Thanks for giving so much information about blog flipping. I used to think that only domain names were valuable. I’m going to try this out. You said not to go looking for blogs from non-english speaking countries since their language isn’t great. But I feel that you may be able to buy the blog from them at a much lesser price than you can with bloggers of USA, UK and Australia. What are your views on this?
[Reply]
Bryan Clark reply on July 9th, 2008:
No problem buddy. Glad to have helped
You are exactly right. You probably can get these blogs at a much cheaper price, it just takes more work to go through and edit all of the posts. Give it a try, let us know!

Hey Bryan !
I have a question for you. Do you send emails to really bad blogs that don’t got much posts or anything ?
How do you choose which blog to open and which not ?

Bryan Clark reply on August 27th, 2008:
I look for value. It can be in the content, the pagerank, rss subscribers, links… anything. Just find something you can use to make your job easier.
